MR Triton Lift Kit & Control Arm Upgrades

At our research and development facility, our R&D team had some one on one time with the 2019 MR Mitsubishi Triton to develop and test fit a new Formula 4x4 Lift kit and also test fit a SuperPro 4x4 adjustable control arm.

 

 

 

The first stage for our team when developing new suspension upgrades is to measure, heights, weights, record wheel alignment and document vehicle handling. This allows the team to fully understand the front and rear suspension set ups and how it contributes to overall vehicle performance. When we develop and release products, they are always designed to improve handling and optimise your wheel alignment for a specific application. In the case of the Mitsubishi MR Triton we have developed two suspension upgrades that optimise the Triton for both on road and off road performance.

After the original ride height of the vehicle is measured, and the droop travel is discovered. Taking into account all measurements our engineering team has developed a Formula 4x4 lift kit (TRI-016R) to improve the MR Triton for offroad use. As expected once the new lift kit is installed though we came across a OE control arm droop/clearance issues. Developed by SuperPro we installed their Triton 4x4 upper control arm. This increased the overall clearance of the MR Triton and the droop travel when off road.

The original equipment front suspension set up is a small-bore shock with a standard spring. Fulcrum Suspension replaces this with a Formula ReadyStrut which incorporates a heavier rated raised spring and a large bore shock absorber. The uprated spring not only provides the MR Triton with lift, but better handling of additional weight added. The large bore shock also provides better cooling and handling as well as a longer life.

Some issues that can be faced when fitting a bigger bore shock include the upper control arm hitting or coming to rest on the new shock absorber, which can interrupt the movement. The solution that Fulcrum Suspension has developed is fitting the SuperPro replacement upper control arms.

The features of the arms include a shortened bump stop and a profile change in the arm to eliminate the issues faced with the original equipment once the ReadyStrut is upgraded.

The benefit from fitting the full kit, Formula ReadyStruts and SuperPro upper control arms include clearance on the shock absorber in all travel position, increased droop for the vehicle and this in turn increased wheel travel for off-road driving.

The lift kit provided a 45mm lift and with the fitment of the SuperPro upper control arms the droop of the vehicle is increased to 40mm. This allows the vehicle to perform on and off road by improving the ride, handling and off-road traction.
